Experienced GCSE and A-Level Tutor Online and Face-to-Face in Cheam Since 2017

I have been a private tutor since 2017. That same year, I completed my A-Levels and was accepted to study Economics at UCL (Top 10 in the QS World University Rankings since 2018), where I achieved a 2.1.

My Academic Journey

GCSEs and A-Levels are a significant challenge for every student. My journey was even more challenging, knowing that my school didn't have a replacement Maths teacher in Year 13. During this time, I utilised every resource available to me, from revision websites to YouTube videos, and managed to get the grades needed to attend my first-choice university. This experience taught me how to learn topics efficiently and enjoyably, a knowledge I am passionate about sharing with students who may be struggling.

My Tutoring Experience

I started tutoring in-person as a part-time job during university, driven by a desire to help students like myself who struggled to learn at school. Initially using platforms such as TutorHunt, I began to attract more students through word-of-mouth. Since starting my tutoring journey, I have helped over 100 students, with their grades consistently improving in the subjects we cover together.

I offer both in-person and online lessons. Online lessons, provided via Zoom, became popular during COVID-19 and allow for easy recording of lessons for revision. In early 2024, I became fully booked for the first time and started offering group lessons with 2-4 students per group. Group lessons are beneficial as students motivate each other, enjoy learning together, and stay focused. This format also allows me to charge a lower price, making it more affordable for families. Students can text me or stay behind for extra one-to-one support when needed.

Personalised Tutoring Approach

My tutoring style prioritises getting to know my students and building trust. Enjoyment in learning is crucial for academic success. I focus on understanding each student’s preferred learning method and tailor my teaching accordingly. Some students work well independently and use our lessons to clarify difficult questions. Others struggle with learning at home and school, requiring a breakdown of concepts into easily understandable parts. I share lesson recordings and practice questions to help these students catch up quickly.

I am also happy to assist in finding a tutor and offering a trial lesson for any subjects I do not personally teach.
